Department of Mathematical and Computer Modeling

Gaforzoda Alisher Bobobek – Head of the Department of Mathematical and Computer Modeling of the Tajik National University, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor.

ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Mathematical and Computer Modeling was established on the basis of the decision of the Academic Council of Tajik National University dated November 29, 2013, Protocol No. 5. From the first days of its activity, the department, being one of the important scientific and educational divisions of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, has been engaged in the teaching and development of mathematical modeling, computer science, and computer technologies.

The first Head of the Department was Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Nurov Ishokboy Jumayevich. Later, the department was headed by Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Odinazoda Safargul Atabek. In 2022–2025, the position of Head of the Department was held by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Odinaev Raim Nazarovich. Since January 26, 2025, up to the present time, the position of Head of the Department has been occupied by Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Ghafforzoda Alisher Bobobek.

The educational activities of the department are organized in accordance with the requirements of the current academic curricula. The faculty members teach courses in mathematical and computer modeling, computer engineering and programming, computer science, optimization methods, operations research and game theory, decision-making theory and optimal control, fundamentals of modern computer technologies, and other specialized disciplines.

In addition, the department trains specialists in three specialties: Computer Science, Mathematical and Computer Modeling, and Artificial Intelligence. Specialized courses and practical classes are conducted for students of these specialties. Students carry out term papers, research projects, and graduation theses in the specialized disciplines of the department and actively participate in the department’s scientific circles.

Currently, 13 lecturers and researchers are engaged in educational and scientific activities at the department. The academic staff includes 1 professor, 4 candidates of sciences, 7 senior lecturers, and 1 assistant. All faculty members are actively involved in scientific research and contribute to the development of modern science.

The main direction of the department’s scientific research is devoted to the topic “Actual Problems of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Their Applications.” The faculty members conduct research in the field of developing mathematical and computer models, designing algorithms and software packages, as well as improving the methods of teaching computer science, mathematics, and natural sciences.

A student scientific club and a professors’ scientific seminar regularly function at the Department of Mathematical and Computer Modeling.

The student scientific club is organized for all specialties of the faculty and is held weekly on Thursdays under the supervision of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Ghafforzoda A.B. During the meetings, students discuss scientific issues, problems of mathematical and computer modeling, programming and algorithms, and are also prepared for participation in olympiads and scientific competitions.

At the same time, the department hosts a professors’ scientific seminar under the supervision of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Odinaev R.N., which is held once a month on Wednesdays. During this seminar, актуальные scientific problems, research results of faculty members and students, as well as new research directions in the field of mathematical and computer modeling are discussed.

The results of the department’s scientific clubs are clearly visible, as students of the faculty regularly participate in republican olympiads, programming contests, scientific research competitions, and other national and international events, winning prize places. These achievements demonstrate that the activities of the scientific clubs contribute to the development of students’ analytical, creative, and research abilities and prepare them for further scientific and professional activities.
