WELCOME TO THE FACULTY OF MECHANICS AND MATHEMATICS!

17

The study and development of natural sciences, including mathematical sciences, in our country began mainly in 1948 with the establishment of the State University of Tajikistan (now the Tajik National University) in Stalinabad (now Dushanbe). In 1949, a mathematics department was opened within the university, admitting only 14 students. In 1965, the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics was established on the basis of this department, where 215 students studied and 27 teachers worked across 3 departments.

The rapid development of science and technology, including natural sciences, and the growing demand of the national economy for highly qualified specialists in mathematical sciences necessitated the creation of this faculty. The faculty was tasked with providing scientific research institutions and secondary and higher educational institutions of the country with qualified specialists in mathematics.

Currently, the faculty trains specialists in the following 5 specialties:
31030102 — Mathematics,
31030302 — Applied Mathematics,
31030400 — Informatics,
31030202 — Mechanics,
98010101 — Computer Security.

On the basis of these specialties, a joint Faculty of Information Technology of the Belarusian State University and the Tajik National University also operates, offering programs in:
98010101 — Computer Security,
31030802 — Mathematics and Information Technology,
31030700 — Applied Informatics.

The faculty has 9 departments: Mathematical Analysis and Theory of Functions, Functional Analysis and Differential Equations, Algebra and Number Theory, Computational Mathematics and Geometry, Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Informatics, Information and Communication Technologies, Mathematical and Computer Modeling, and Higher Mathematics — all engaged in scientific, educational, and methodological work.

Welcome to the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics!
